Over the past 25 years, research has shown what parents have known for a long time: Sharing a fun family meal is good for the spirit, brain and health of all family members. Recent studies link regular family meals with the kinds of behaviors that parents want for their children: higher grade-point averages, resilience and self-esteem. Additionally, family meals are linked to lower rates of substance abuse, teen pregnancy, eating disorders and depression. We also believe in the power of family dinners to nourish ethical thinking.
With every challah package, you'll also receive an exclusive pack of Recipe for Conversation cards curated by our partners at the Family Dinner Project.

In honor of Black History Month, Challah Back Girls™ (CBG) and The Conscious Kid (TCK) are partnering for their fourth annual Black History & Black Liberation Month collaboration!
TCK supports anti-racist education and inclusive classroom communities by addressing the lack of diverse and equitable representation of people of color and marginalized groups in curriculum and children's media. While we are committed to learning and unlearning all year, February is specifically a time to inform, listen, and strengthen our allyship.
It’s crucial that celebrating Black history become a part of our education early on in our development and TCK is committed to taking action to disrupt racism in young children. By connecting people to the Jewish ritual of challah—a traditionally braided bread—we are dedicated to fundraising for and amplifying TCK's important efforts in leading racial equity work through education.
With every challah order placed in February, you are helping to further the impact of The Conscious Kid's mission and celebrate Black voices all month (and beyond)!

As tensions rise around the world, humanitarian efforts are needed more than ever. Challah Back Girls is deeply committed to standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine during this time of uncertainty, and as such will be donating a portion of our March 2022 sales to the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC).
Our initial plan for the month of March was to utilize our platform to spotlight Women's History Month. In addition to that work, we feel it's crucial to also show up as best we can for the people of Ukraine in their time of need. For every 10 challahs, Challah Back Girls will donate $18 to JDC. The Hebrew word for “life” is chai. Chai is spelled with the letters chet (8) and yud (10). Thus, 18 stands for chai or “life.”
Home to approximately 200,000 Jews, Ukraine's Jewish community is one of the largest in the world. JDC provides a lifeline for the elderly, children, and their families through a variety of care services. With your help, we will bake even more challahs between March 1 - 31 in order to have the biggest impact on JDC's important work.

Saving Mothers was founded because no woman should die giving life. Each year, more than 300,000 women and girls die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth. That’s one mother dying every two minutes. 75% of these deaths could have been prevented with low-cost interventions. For the past decade, our team of medical experts, local health care workers, and allied professionals have been implementing low-cost, high impact interventions around the globe to reduce birth-related complications, and prevent unnecessary maternal deaths. We are fundraising for Saving Mothers all month! This incredible organization works tirelessly to eradicate preventable maternal deaths and birth-related complications in low-resource settings locally as well as globally. Join us in spreading the love of the meaningful work Saving Mothers does.
